Have you optimised your website yet?
Published April 29th, 2007Today I’m going to talk a little bit about my attempts at search engine optimisation for my various websites. I’ve tried various tools and techniques with some success.
My SEO work has been based around a couple of products by Brad Callen, SEO Elite and Link Metro, both of which have proved extremely helpful.
SEO Elite has a range of features which help to shortcut some of the more tedious elements of SEO.
Firstly, you can analyze backlinks using a specific search engine or engines. You can also pull other information such as page rank and Alexa rank into the report. I’ve found it really useful, particularly as you can specify a country specific search engine, which has been helpful for my UK based sites.
Next, you can use SEO Elite to find links for your site, with the whole process automated. You add your site and contact information, decide which type of site or keywords you want to link with and SEO Elite goes away and finds relevant sites. You can send link requests from within SEO Elite and even build link pages for your website.
Next, you can anaylze the AllInAnchor, AllInTitle or AllInText for top ranking sites by specific keywords. This helps to understand how the top ranking sites have managed to achieve a high ranking.
Next, you can verify that link partners are still linking back. I don’t actually use this tool as I have a slightly different process in place, although a quick test shows an easy to use application.
Next, you can find out where your site is ranked for a given keyword across various search engines, which is a real help, avoiding the need to trawl through Google, Yahoo, MSN and the rest to check your latest ranking. The interface is really simple and results are delivered quickly.
Next, you can check how many pages are indexed in your site(s). You can also view detailed information about your pages including Page Rank.
Next, you can check for possible authority sites. In fact, I’ve just tried it for one of my sites and found a PR4 site which 3 of my main competitors are listed on, so I’ve fired off an email to the webmaster and crossed my fingers for a link.
Finally, you can use SEO Elite to submit articles to article directories. This is a new feature added to version 4 of SEO Elite, which adds real value as a standalone tool, just doing the same job can cost you more than the whole SEO Elite package.
In summary, SEO Elite is highly recommended. If you want to find out more visit the SEO Elite website and/or download Brad Callen’s SEO ebook here (for free).
I also mentioned Link Metro earlier, which is a link exchange programme, that I have used effectively on a couple of my sites. A word of warning though - don’t get carried away with non-relevant links. Make sure they are targeted to your site. internet marketing Resources SEO
