A quick fix of Adwords training
Published April 23rd, 2007
Sat on my doormat when I arrived home from hospital was a package from Amazon, containing the latest offering from Perry Marshall, ‘Ultimate Guide to Google Adwords - How to access 10 million people in 10 minutes’. If you haven’t heard of Perry Marshall before, he is regarded as the leading expert on Google’s Adwords programme. Check out the video below to hear Perry speaking at an internet marketing conference.
With nothing better to do (I’m resting following surgery) I delved straight in and read the whole 306 pages!
There is some really good stuff here, but if you’re looking for an easy way to win with Adwords, you may be a little disappointed (In my experience there is no quick win). To succeed you’ll need to do a fair amount of work - Perry’s strategy involves constant testing and refining of your ads. Having said that, I have little doubt that by implementing just some of the ideas, you’ll see an improvement in click-through rates and, ultimately, profits. There are plenty of real life examples in the book highlight both good and bad advertising practice.
Some of the latter chapters seemed a bit like padding, in particular the chapter on SEO, but overall I’d say the book represents excellent value for money, particularly compared to some of the $97 e-books out there - I do wonder how peoople get away with publishing crappy e-books for 5 times the price of professionally written real books!
I’ll certainly be implementing a number of Perry’s tactics in my Adwords campaigns - I sell some (non internet marketing related) affilate products pretty successfully and will report back with the results in due course.
In the meantime, you can pick up a copy of the book through the following links (Amazon UK on the left and Amazon.com on the right):
